THE RECON
I’ll start this out by saying I used the 40 Mike Mike for 3 seasons of matches and it never gave me an ounce of trouble. I decided I needed a tripod that was quicker to deploy and not to tall when collapsed...you’ve hit the nail on the head with The Recon, I’ve used it in 3 matches now and wouldn’t change a thing! Thanks Two Vets

Great tripod, built very well and lightweight for how substantially it is built. Would highly recommend!

Best money spent
I bought a $1600 RRS set up. And this tripod is better in almost every regard. If your on the fence buy this one!! It’s more stable without a doubt and at half the price!!!

Recon tripod
A significant purchase like the Recon tripod and leveling head wasn’t something I could make without a lot of thought, but I finally did and couldn’t be happier. The fit and finish of all the parts are flawless, but more important, there is nothing I could improve about its operations. One hesitation I had was about the collet-style twist type leg extension locks. Similar leg locks on the several other tripods I own require turning the rings very tightly to keep the legs from slipping, and then they are difficult to loosen. I think there must be some magic in the Recon locks because they lock and unlock without much effort even with my old, arthritic hands. When locked, I can lean on the tripod heavily and nothing slips. I purchased the leveling head for use when shooting a rifle, but the standard supplied mounting plate with its 3/8-16 screw accepted an adjustable head for photography and telescope use. (The stock supplied mounting plate isn’t described or pictured very well on the site, but it also has a hook on the bottom to hang accessories or weights—a nice, and unexpected, benefit.) The two head setups are easily switched in a matter of seconds. The leg feet are another well thought-out feature. The rubber feet are just enough larger in diameter than the legs to provide firm, nonslip support when the legs are fully splayed out for using the tripod low to the ground. Steel spikes are supplied with the feet for use when needed, but because an extra set of feet is so inexpensive, it’s faster and easier to have one set with the spikes extended and one with the spikes in their internal storage position to switch back and forth. No buyer’s remorse with this excellent product.

RECON TRIPOD
I needed to upgrade this year because my last tripod was not tall enough for PRS applications. This one definitely works and is lighter and very functional. I have also been using to spot targets and hits and it’s super sturdy.

Recon
I did a side by side comparision to another name brand tripod that cost twice as much, the Recon was the clear winner. It is used for spotting, shooting and night hunting, it is rock solid!
